Swanny Elzingre is a drummer with an atypical career.
Her musical encounters were more decisive than the time she spent in music schools, and the many stages she has played on have made her both an emancipated and a seasoned musician. She first learned to the play the piano, but she then turned to drums at the age of 18, as a selftaught musician.
At the age of 25 she decided to make music her job, and started a jazz course with Mathieu Gramoli (drummer for French acts Corneille, Milk Coffee & Sugar, Her). She soon became a drums teacher too, and continues to accompany artists, strenghtening her stage and studio experience.
She has played in various styles (rock, pop, French chanson, soul) and in a variety of projects, including promo and radio shows with French singer songwriter Cali and a tour with French singer songwriter Nach. In addition to France, she has played and/or toured in Japan, China, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium. In 2013, she gave the opening masterclass for the Drums Chelles Sessions - a major drums event/fair in the Paris region, where other featured drummers included Loïc Pontieux, Maxime Zampieri, Zaza Desiderio, Gergo Borai and Morgan Agren.
In 2015, with French chanson project Juniore, Swanny toured the Zenith venues across France, to audiences of up to 6000, opening for best-selling act Brigitte (“Victoire de la Musique” laureates in 2012). She also toured in support of La Femme and played drums for Moodoid. She has played drums live on national radio stations such as France Inter, Radio Nova, Ouï FM, and on French national TV networks Canal +, France 5, Arte, France 2. Her work with Juniore led her to feature in the pages of Vogue, Elle and Grazia, and the French trend-setting magazine Les Inrockuptibles.
Her playing, that combines subtlety and femininity, lacks neither power nor bite. She is Influenced by drummers such as John Bonham, Dave Grohl, David Garibaldi, Steve Gadd or Nate Smith, and their world-class grooves.
